How can we care for ourselves while also caring for our students and our school communities? In this professional development module, we will explore this question together and offer support and resources for cultivating kindness and compassion for self and others. You will be introduced to the science of compassion as well as to the features of compassion related to the daily practices, struggles, constraints, and joys of educators. You will be invited to reflect on your experiences of kindness in your own learning, and begin to recognize compassion as it arises in everyday life. This professional development module will help you to develop skills to create a regular practice of paying attention, and to notice and reflect on your experiences as an educator, both joyful and challenging, through the lens of compassion. We encourage educators, including teachers, administrators, and mental health professionals, who work with students in PreK through 12th grade to participate.
